Join Now

Changemakers for Children’s is a group of enthusiastic individuals who will have the opportunity to fundraise, lead and take action for the cause of Children’s Health℠. Equipped with a toolkit of fundraising and leadership skills, with a passion to make life better for children, Changemakers will make an impact in their high schools and in their spheres of influence by leading the charge for Children’s Health.

Children’s Health is a not-for-profit health system, so when you fundraise, you are directly supporting the mission to make life better for children. Whether you choose to serve individually or as a leader, you make a difference.

  • Become a Member

If you’d like to participate on your own, as a Member you’ll have the opportunity to fundraise and take action for Children’s Health.

    • Raise at least $500 for Children’s Health. Children’s Health is a not-for-profit health system, and when you raise funds on behalf of Children’s Health, you are choosing to support the mission to make life better for children. Many of the important programs that work to save children’s lives are not covered by insurance. That means EVERY donation makes a difference in the life of a child. As a Changemakers for Children’s Member, you will work to raise at least $500 per year to support Children’s Health.
    • Complete semester and activity reports. Planning is an important key to the success of your goals, and we want to know about all of the amazing activities your club completes. Did you raise $200? Host a fundraiser event? Sent an email about Changemakers to friends and family? We want to know! Use the Semester Plan and Activity Reports to plan and track your activity throughout the year.
    • Attend one Children’s Health event with one friend or family member. To learn more about the mission you support, you’ll get insider access to all volunteer and informational events hosted by Children’s Medical Center Foundation. To help raise awareness for the cause of Children’s Health, invite a friend or family member to join you! Check out the Events List to find an event that looks interesting to you, and make sure to track it on your monthly Activity Report.
    • Attend Changemakers for Children’s Meet Ups. Throughout the year, the Foundation will host Meet Ups so that Changemakers from Dallas and Plano can connect with one another, share stories and accomplishments, and hear from special speakers. You’ll be required to attend two Meet Ups per semester.

  • Become a Leader

As a Leader, you will have the incredible task to lead others to fundraise and advocate for the mission of Children’s Health: to make life better for children. That’s amazing! That also means you’ll have some responsibilities to uphold:

    • Raise at least $1,000 for Children’s Health. Children’s Health is a not-for-profit health system, and when you raise funds on behalf of Children’s Health, you are choosing to support the mission to make life better for children. As a Changemakers for Children’s Leader, your club will work to raise at least $1,000 per year to support Children’s Health.
    • Recruit two or more new members. There is power in numbers, and Changemakers for Children’s Clubs work together to fundraise, lead and take action to make life better for children. Use the Changemakers for Children’s sign-up sheets to get new people to join. Then, submit those sheets with your Activity Reports so that we can add them to our database of supporters.

  • Start a Club

A Changemakers for Children’s Club is a group of two or more Changemakers for Children’s members that have committed to come together for a common purpose to fundraise, lead and advocate for the cause of Children’s Health. This dedicated group of high school students will plan, strategize and take action to change the lives of children in need. As an officially recognized club in their schools or in their homes, all meetings and activities are aligned with Children’s Health’s mission to make life better for children.

    Who can start a club?

Anyone! Whether someone wants to form a club at home or in their school, they are eligible. Clubs are lead by high school youth and will be lead by at least one Changemakers for Children’s Leader who reports their activities to the Foundation representative. Want to participate but don’t have the capacity to become a Changemaker Leader? You can participate as a Changemakers for Children’s Member, where you can complete the requirements on your own, or join a pre-existing Changemakers for Children’s Club.

  • Make a Donation

There are three ways to make a donation to Children’s Health through Changemakers for Children’s:

    1. Cash - You can give your tax-deductible cash donation to your Changemakers for Children’s fundraiser. They will record your contact information (i.e. name, address, etc.) so that you can receive your year-end donation tax receipt.
    2. Check - You can give your tax-deductible check donation to your Changemakers for Children’s fundraiser. They will record your contact information (i.e. name, address, etc.) so that you can receive your year-end donation tax receipt.
    3. Credit Card - To give to a specific Changemakers for Children’s Member or Club, search for their fundraising page where you can make an online donation.

100% of your gift goes towards Patient Family Support Services.

Programs under the Patient Family Support Services umbrella include: Child Life, which helps normalize the treatment environment for children through procedural preparation, developmentally appropriate diagnosis education, and therapeutic play; Social Work, who specialize in helping our patients and their families adjust to acute and ongoing medical stressors by providing psychosocial support and assessments, resource coordination, crisis intervention, bereavement and grief counseling, parent education, and emotional support in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings; Pastoral Care, offers interfaith spiritual and emotional support and guidance at the bedside or in one of our chapels located on each hospital campus; as well as Educational Services, Language Access Services and the Red Balloon Network.

Because these special services are not eligible for reimbursement through insurance, they rely on philanthropic support to ensure they remain widely available for our young patients.

  • Events and Fundraisers

The events and fundraisers listed in our “Fundraising Ideas” document are a great way to get started raising funds for Children’s Medical Center Foundation. These ideas are for you to adapt, create and utilize for your friends, teachers and parents. Do they fit with your school? If not, you can adapt these ideas or combine them with a current fundraiser. It’s time to put on your thinking hat and start creating! The possibilities are endless, but one thing remains the same—every dollar you raise impacts the patients at Children’s Health. You are making a difference in the lives of children, one dollar at a time.
