Gifts in honor of and gifts in memory of are both types of tribute gifts, typically differentiated by whether the person’s name you’re making the donation is living or deceased. Gifts in honor are usually made in someone’s name that is living, while gifts in memory of are usually made in someone’s name that is deceased. These tribute gifts offer a heartfelt way to pay tribute to loved ones while making a positive impact on others in need. Many people choose to make a tribute gift during life milestones, in times of celebration, or as a meaningful way to commemorate someone’s legacy.

How Do I Donate in Tribute of Someone?
We have a form dedicated to making tribute gifts. Make a donation in honor of someone by including the name of the honoree as well as their contact information on the form.
You can choose to send an email, a physical card, or both, letting the recipient know that a donation was made in their name (the amount of the donation will not be included in the note).

How will the person I am honoring be notified?
When you make a donation on behalf of someone as a gift, you will be asked to provide an optional email address or a mailing address for the person you are honoring so they can be notified by either email or a printed card in the mail. You can choose the person who will receive the email or printed card, even if the gift is in honor of someone else, and you can add a personalized message as well.
Can I Choose How My Tribute Gift is Used?
Donate on behalf of someone else as a gift to give kids the best experience, the best care and ultimately the best fighting chance to get back to being a kid again.
When you make a donation on behalf of someone as a gift, you may choose one of six areas from our donation form’s drop-down menu that you’d like your gift to support. If there isn’t a specific area intended, your tribute will usually be used for Children’s Health’s Greatest Need.

Does the gift recipient see how much I donated?
No. When you make a donation on behalf of someone as a gift, the amount of the gift only appears on the acknowledgement letter/tax receipt we send directly to you. Your gift recipient will receive a separate email or card in the mail that does not include the amount.
