Dallas Hispanic Bar Association
Making an impact beyond the courtroom
The Dallas Hispanic Bar Association is a group of attorneys who advocate for the DFW Metroplex Hispanic community by working to make the legal system more accessible – and by supporting world-class pediatric care at Children’s Health.
For the past two years, the association has extended its community support by collecting toys for Children’s Health at its annual holiday party, and more recently, through an online peer-to-peer fundraiser to raise unrestricted funds for the hospital system.
“The job of an attorney can be stressful and highly demanding,” said Berenice Medellin Pruettiangkura, president of the bar association. “Giving back brought a lot of joy to our members – you could see it in their faces. It gave them an opportunity to not only serve their community, but also – in a way – to do something for themselves outside of work and other obligations.”
In 2024, bar association members added raising funds to their annual generosity, bringing in nearly $3,000 to support the greatest needs at Children’s Health. These unrestricted funds help the hospital system enhance critical programs, invest in new initiatives and support life-saving research.
We chose Children’s Health as a beneficiary because the organization’s mission — to make life better for children — aligns with ours: to serve the needs of the Hispanic community. Children’s Health serves a diverse population and that matters to us.”

Through their efforts, Dallas Hispanic Bar Association hopes to make a challenging time a little easier for patients and families – even if just for a moment.
