Longstanding foundation invests in the future of Children's Health
Communities Foundation of Texas awards $9.7 million to local nonprofits expanding access to health services
DALLAS, TX – June 26, 2025 - Communities Foundation of Texas (CFT) has awarded $9.7 million in grants to nonprofits committed to expanding access to health services across North Texas, from infants to seniors. These organizations serve a variety of needs, age groups, and communities, with a shared focus on ensuring individuals who are under-insured or uninsured can receive care.
$9.2 million in grant awards support campus expansions and redevelopments at the following nonprofits: Children’s Medical Center Foundation, Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas, Metrocare, Nexus Family Recovery Center, and Resource Center. Funding will help launch or expand transformative healthcare programs and facilities that promote the well-being of individuals and families across the region.
“CFT believes that a thriving community is one where everyone feels supported and cared for,” said Wayne White, President and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas. “These investments are about so much more than the buildings; what we’re investing in is the transformative and expanded care that these facilities and campuses will make possible. Each of these nonprofits offer a wide range of services that promote health, going beyond direct support. These organizations apply innovative, systemic approaches to advancing health equity, helping ensure that our community members can prioritize their well-being, regardless of socioeconomic or insurance status.”
About the grantees: Children’s Medical Center Foundation is the fundraising arm for Children’s Health, one of the largest nonprofit pediatric health systems in North Texas. For over 70 years, Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas has provided effective and accessible whole-person care to any patient in-need. Metrocare is the largest provider of mental health and intellectual developmental disability services in Dallas County. Nexus Family Recovery Center provides comprehensive care (including childcare support to keep families together) to women recovering from substance use disorders. With 40+ years of experience, Resource Center provides affirming care for LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies.
From a landmark new pediatric hospital to expanded mental health services, these organizations are improving the lives of thousands of people across our region—many of whom might otherwise go without the care they need and deserve. CFT is proud to invest in these innovative and essential organizations that are laying the groundwork for a healthier North Texas, now and for generations to come.
