Introducing I Choose Children’s

Thousands of parents make the critical decision to choose Children’s Health every year. Now, Children’s Health embarks on a widespread movement by inviting everyone to Choose Children’s with their charitable support. It’s an opportunity to reaffirm the choice that parents make, to join with neighbors across North Texas in offering time and treasure to make life better for children.

The choice of a children’s hospital can be high-stakes for a parent. The choice of a charity can be high-impact for a community. We’re proud that Children’s Health is an outstanding choice on both counts!

When you choose Children’s, you support the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas and eighth-largest in the country. You support full-spectrum clinical care for kids, which includes a flagship hospital ranked among the very best by U.S. News & World Report. And, you support our academic affiliation with UT Southwestern Medical Center, one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation.

Children’s Health stands with children and their families every day by delivering the best care when it’s needed; discovering cures for the future; and reaching out into the community to keep kids healthy. Will you choose to do the same?  Stand with us and proudly say, “I Choose Children’s!

“You are in the best hospital possible”

Katlin Muñoz’s daughter has a form of acute lymphoblastic leukemia so rare, so tough on the immune system, she felt that even other mothers with children fighting cancer could not fully understand what she was going through.

On Facebook, she found a mother with a daughter who had the same genetic mutation. They lived just one town over. Mrs. Muñoz spoke to the other mom, Jennifer Rodolph, on the phone and learned that her daughter was also a patient at Children’s Health. Mrs. Rodolph remembers the call.

“Right away I told her two things: I know what you’re going through, and you are in the best hospital possible,” Mrs. Rodolph said.

Patients and team members celebrate pet therapy at annual Dog Days of Summer

Our four-legged friends brightened the day of more than 100 team members, patients and their families at the fourth annual Dog Days of Summer event on Aug. 6 in the Butterfly Atrium at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

The camp-themed party, hosted by the Child Life department and PetSmart Charities Pet-Assisted Therapy Program, celebrated our volunteer and facility therapy dogs. Patients made crafts, sang songs and had our four-legged team members by their side to provide love and support. More than 600 paw prints, displaying the names of supporters who sent Pet Pals e-cards, decorated the walls during the event.

Our pet-assisted therapy program currently has eight facility dogs and 32 volunteer dogs serving the Dallas, Plano and Our Children’s House campuses. These pups contribute to the Children’s mission every day through patient room visits, providing emotional support and more.
