"At PetSmart, we know the power of pets and their ability to help kids heal. Partnerships, like this one with Children's Health, make a world of difference to those in the hospital. I look forward to watching this program grow as it continues to positively impact even more lives."

PetSmart Charities has donated $425,000 create the Paws for Hope Pet-Assisted Therapy Program, which “staffs” the hospital with eight pet therapy dogs. The specially trained dogs patrol the halls at the hospitals in Dallas and Plano looking for young patients to calm, befriend and entertain, making hospital stays and treatments much easier.
Support from PetSmart Charities has also allowed Children’s to grow its volunteer canine therapy program from only three hours a week to a full-time program reaching across both hospitals and, most recently, to Our Children’s House. The program now has about 40 volunteers and more than two dozen pet therapy teams.
