Kohl’s employees have donated hundreds of volunteer hours at Children’s Health, and the retail giant put a hefty dose of benevolence behind their contribution; Kohl’s makes a donation to Children’s every time one of their employees completes five hours of volunteer work at the hospital. Since 2000, this program with Kohl’s “Associates in Action” has raised $4.3 million and has contributed more than 1,300 hours of volunteer work.
A recent Kohl’s grant will provide 19,000 parents with copies of a book about health care and first aid for children. The book will be available in English and Spanish and will come with information to help parents judge if their child’s sickness or injury requires emergency care. The secondary goal of the Kohls’ Cares grant is to provide parents with knowledge of how and where to find a pediatrician in their neighborhood; this information can be found at childrens.com/gettingwell.
