Trust Members Award $91,000 to Suicide Prevention Team; Kick off membership recruiting season for 2014
The Pediatric Psychiatry, Suicide Prevention and Intervention Program at Children’s Medical Center (“Children’s”) is the recipient of a $91,000 cash gift from The Children’s Trust (“The Trust”), a support organization that provides advocacy and financial support to Children’s. The gift was part of the Trust’s overall 2013 fundraising for the hospital, which totaled $165,000. The gift was formally presented Feb. 19 at Park Place Porsche during the Trust’s annual membership reception.
At the reception, The Trust presented its annual donation, which is the culmination of a year’s worth of member fundraising activity. That funding is distributed to the departments within the hospital whose programs were selected, by vote, from Trust members. The Pediatric Psychiatry, Suicide Prevention and Intervention Program received $91,000; the Child Life Music Therapy program received $47,000; and the Nephrology Services program received $27,000.
“We are proud to provide gifts that offer life-saving research and support to several outstanding departments at Children’s,” said Dave Tabor, who serves as 2014 Chair of The Children’s Trust along with his wife, Jenny. “Our ability to support the hospital with $165,000 was the highlight of The Trust’s year.”
Including the 2013 gift, The Trust has raised more than $1 million for Children’s Medical Center since The Trust’s founding in 2002. Financial gifts in 2013 came from member dues; matching gifts from the Hawn Foundation, the David M. Crowley Foundation, and Trust members Kim and Eric Pearson; as well as gifts from Bank of Texas, e-rewards Inc., Heygood, Orr & Pearson, the Klesse Foundation, Park Place Dealerships and Santander Consumer USA Inc.
Again supported by Park Place Dealerships, The Trust officially kicked off its 2014 membership recruitment period. Membership in The Trust is designed for individuals and couples who are interested in promoting and contributing to the mission of Children’s. Trust members participate in exclusive educational and social events. Membership is by invitation only. About The Children’s Trust
The Children’s Trust was established in 2002 and plays a valuable role in helping Children’s Medical Center fulfill its mission to make life better for children. Members consist of couples and individuals passionate about pediatric health care who are dedicated to providing leadership through service and philanthropic support to the hospital. Since its inception, the Trust has grown to include nearly 500 members annually and has given more than $1 million to Children’s. These monies have been used to purchase specific items and fund specific programs identified as critical needs by Children’s and voted on by members.
