Children’s Medical Center’s Fourth Annual Red Balloon Run & Ride Moves To April 26, 2014
March 08, 2013
The Children’s Medical Center (www.childrens.com) Red Balloon Run & Ride, one of the hospital’s signature fundraising events, is moving from fall 2013 to spring 2014 to further grow and energize fundraising around the event.
The fourth annual Red Balloon Run & Ride will be held on April 26, 2014 at Children’s Medical Center at Legacy in Plano. The event is produced by Passion for Children’s for the exclusive benefit of Children’s. Passion for Children’s has been a supporter of the hospital since 2009.
“Children’s Medical Center is an essential part of this community, and the Red Balloon Run & Ride provides participants with a great opportunity to show that they care about the kids and families in their community,” said Joel Williams, founder and president of Passion for Children’s. “The event also gives patients an opportunity to show their support and thanks to the doctors and nurses that cared for them.”
Last year’s Red Balloon Run & Ride participants raised $562,371 to benefit the not-for-profit hospital. Race participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100, and they can raise money for any department at Children’s.
“As Children’s moves into its second century of serving children and their families, support from community members is critical to our mission of making life better for children,” said Michael Frick, president of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation.
Throughout 2013, Children’s will celebrate 100 years of saving and changing children’s lives. The hospital’s 100th anniversary is a huge milestone, which calls for a number of centennial-centered events and celebrations.
“We know how much the community loves the Red Balloon Run & Ride and we want to make sure it gets the attention it deserves,” said Frick. “We greatly appreciate Joel and all that he has done to support Children’s. We anticipate that moving the Red Balloon Run & Ride to the spring will help balance our event calendar, providing our various community friends and corporate partners with greater ease in participating in our fundraising events.”
Registration for the Red Balloon Run & Ride will open Monday, July 1, 2013. Mark your calendar and join us on October 6, 2013, for the Red Balloon Run & Ride Kickoff. Event details to come.
